Curtain walling
Glazed aluminium curtain walling for showrooms, offices and new commercial frontages, installed across the UK. It suits new-build and full-height glazed elevations rather than a single shop unit. Every scheme is designed and priced individually from drawings.
Consents this work tends to involve
- Planning permissionUsually needed
A new or re-clad façade is a major change to a building’s appearance.
- Building regulationsUsually needed
Structure, fire performance of the external wall, energy and safety glazing.
An installer’s general guide; your council decides.
Is curtain walling right for a shop?
Seldom for an individual unit in a traditional street, where a shopfront system with a fascia and stallriser fits better. It comes into its own on new buildings, car showrooms and corner sites designed as glass from the outset.
Who designs it?
Curtain walling is engineered: wind loads, deflection, movement joints and fixings to the structure are calculated, not assumed. On larger schemes the system supplier’s engineers and the project’s structural engineer sign it off; our part is fabrication and installation to that design.
